Racing for the Trail – a program that combines a love for the Town Lake Trail with the desire to compete in local races….turning your race miles into cash for the trail!

Love the trail? Love to race? You've come to the right place!

Racing for the Trail covers races from March 2005 to February 2006. In Austin road-racing language, we start with the Cap 10k and finish with the Freescale Austin Marathon.

1. Register – sign up, indicating your willingness to race for the trail, you'll receive a fulfillment kit that includes: your Racing for the Trail racing shirt, your very own ChampionChip (assuming you don't own one), donor cards, and general program information.

2. Recruit - it's up to you to find donors who will pledge on a per mile basis for the races you run during the program year. We will provide you with two means of contacting your potential donors to accommodate those who are technical and those who are not. For donors who prefer paper, you will be given postage paid donor info cards. Your donors fill them out and return them to us for input. For those who prefer paperless, you can email them a link to the racer section of the web site. We'll provide you with sample email text. Either way….it's a one time process!

3. Race - once you've signed up and gotten your donors on board, it's off to the races! Run-FAR Racing Services sends us an electronic feed containing the results of every race where their timing system is used. We scan the results for our racer's chip numbers. Your results are automatically updated in your section of our web site. The system emails a progress report to your donors notifying them of your most current race, program-to-date total, and their cumulative donation. At the end of the program year we send your donors an itemized invoice. They can mail us a check or pay online. It's that simple.
